DESCRIPTION
Horizontal drum chipper, designed and constructed to meet optimum performance and reliability criteria. A heavy-duty and robust machine, capable of handling the most challenging of conditions for the size-reduction of any waste wood product.

The Varli VDC-1600 drum chipper has a large in-feed opening, ensuring that it is more than capable of processing any waste wood material, logs, bundles of wood (with a diameter in excess of 700 mm can be easily processed through the VDC-1600.

The VDC-1600 has the capability to produce ~ 100000kgs/hr, of high-quality pulp mill chips, or smaller fraction for use as a biofuel. The VDC can produce even larger fraction, with chips up to 200mm long (subject to set up)

A drum chipper of heavy-duty build, with over-sized, self-aligning bearings that are mounted within steel housings and secured to the side structure of the chipper to ensure long and effective service life.

The chipper feed rollers (14) are equipped with special, wear-resistant, surface-hardened teeth, designed to effectively grab and drive material into the chipper at a speed optimised for output.

The chipper is supplied with drum mounted cutting tools, which are hardox, and exchangeable wear plates.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
The VDC-series are designed for the production of wood chips from trunks or rind bunches.

Material is fed, horizontally by vibrating chute, into the feed rollers (feed rollers are floating and adapt to the height of the input material).

The feed rollers secure the material and drive it into a rotating drum, which is equipped with solid knives (secured with centrifugal wedges) which are impervious to knife damages and enable reduced tool changing times. The rotor blades are easy to access and can be re-sharpened, multiple times.

The VDC drum chippers is equipped with special features such as adjustable stator knife, hydraulic hood and hydraulic changing device for the stator knife.
