Cutter Head Setting and Measuring Machine
In the manufacturing process of spiral bevel gears, the quality of the gear cutting tools used plays a decisive role. Especially in dry milling, high gearing quality and long tool life can only be achieved through precisely set cutter heads.
The CS 200 Cutter Head Setting and Inspection Unit enables fast and simple adjustment of individual cutters, checks their position, and documents the measurement results. The measuring process on the CNC-controlled inspection device is semi-automated: the control guide displays each step of the process on the screen. The positioning of the individual cutters in the cutter head, i.e., the height adjustment of the cutter tips, is largely automatic due to a special process and is simultaneously documented by a run-out diagram. A subsequent measuring process checks the radial position of the inner and outer cutting edges of all cutters in the cutter head. If the inspection parameters of individual cutters do not meet the tolerance specifications, they can be adjusted individually. The combination of a semi-automated setting process, operator-guided setup actions, and automatic measuring procedure allows cutter heads to be set comfortably, quickly, and with high precision.
