1. Alignment Taper Roller Conveyor

Timber lengths: 2 m to 4.6 m (main length: 2.7 m),
extendable up to 8 m (optional, at additional cost)

Description:
Taper roller conveyor for round timber with housed bearings (nominal diameter: 60 mm);
Outer diameter of taper rollers: 450 mm; drive chain: roller chain 5/4'';
built-in 4-arm hydraulic lifter for transfer to the root reducer, steel housing sleeve bearings; Drive of the taper roller conveyor via geared motor with intermediate gearbox and soft start; integrated photoelectric sensors (2 pcs) for log positioning

2. Root Reducer

Dimensions:

Description:
- 3 driven chain beds, drive chain: roller chain 6/4'' with square drivers
- driven via geared motor
- 2 support blocks with non-driven rollers (roller bearings)
- hydraulically pivoting clamping device for top clamping with V-bed
- drive chain: roller chain 6/4'', drive via geared motor
- milling shaft in housing with reversible, exchangeable knife blocks (4 cutting edges per block), driven by three-phase motor (drive power: 75 kW; flexible tyre coupling)
- star-delta operation for the drive motor (energy-saving idle mode, automatic switchover during reduction)
- milling shaft length: 1,200 mm, mounted on a rotatably supported, adjustable drive rocker (hydraulic drive)

- integrated hydraulic power unit (15 kW)
- integrated log diameter measurement for automatic milling time calculation (control included in pos. 2); for timber less than 3.5 m in length, log support position must be adjusted (shortened reduction length)
Reduction length for log length of 2.7 m: 0.7 m, for log length of 3 m: 0.9 m

3. Control System
- Control cabinets in neutral configuration, equipped with controllers for all drives in pos. 1 and 2
- Power supply: 3x400 VAC; Rittal control cabinet; motor and standard contactors by Siemens
- freely programmable controller by Bernegger & Rainer
- control cabinets fully wired and tested
- reserve slots for approx. 5 drives
- circuit diagram for the plant
- signal exchange via volt-free contacts
- emergency stop system; including required sensors; manual operation possible

Control Function Description:
- automatic reduction operation, adjustment of log support position required for lengths under 3.5 m (shortened reduction length)
- automatic log positioning via taper roller conveyor, reduction process must be initiated manually (reduction command)
