Description / Scope of Function
A DSC is used for the thermal analysis of materials. It measures the heat flow occurring during physical or chemical processes in a sample while it is being heated or cooled in a controlled manner. The device can be used to analyze the following material properties:
- Melting and solidification temperatures
- Glass transition temperatures (Tg)
- Crystallization
- Phase transitions
- Reaction enthalpies
- Heat capacity
- Determination of material purity
Typical areas of use:

- Plastics and polymer analysis

The Intracooler 40 allows for active cooling below room temperature without the need for liquid nitrogen, significantly expanding the temperature range.
