This fixed-table surface grinding machine is based on the R.V. 500 model but differs due to its long, fourfold-supported column with an additional, sturdy column support. Thanks to its rigidity and geometric stability, this surface grinder is ideal for grinding precision components of considerable height—whether single parts or series production—from toolmaking, mold construction, dies, gears, and much more. The vertical traverse spindle nuts and dowel pins for axis alignment in this fixed-table grinding machine ensure consistently optimal working conditions.

Cast iron bed guarantees lasting geometric stability for the grinding machine. The cast iron column is protected by bellows and mounted in four adjustable precision bearings, generously dimensioned for this type of fixed-table grinder. The three-phase motor is dual-jacket air-cooled to prevent overheating during continuous operation and to keep shaft and bearing temperature constant.

The hardened, ground, and dynamically balanced spindle is mounted in precision ball bearings—generously dimensioned for this type of machine—and is self-adjusting by means of spring preloading to compensate for heat expansion.

The vertical traverse spindle is supported in opposed, adjustable ball bearings, ensuring optimal movement and keeping the grinding wheel area unobstructed and free from dust accumulation in this model. Metal bellows provide added protection for the vertical traverse spindle.

Opposed bronze nuts are used to compensate for wear on the vertical traverse spindle over time in the fixed-table version. Alignment pins ensure the motor is correctly aligned with the axis, guaranteeing parallel surfaces as the machine ages.

The handwheel is triple supported and connected to the spindle via two helical gears. It is equipped with a graduated drum supported by a thrust bearing, allowing material removal of 0.01 – 0.02 – 0.03 mm per pass. Rapid traverse per handwheel revolution is 2 mm. A knob with lever enables programmable micrometric feed from 0.01 – 0.02 – 0.03 – 0.04 mm per pulse, simplifying operation by eliminating the need for continuous step control.

A slot is provided to optimize usable grinding wheel height and for clamping non-magnetic parts and accessories such as magnetic chucks, self-centering chucks, and angle plates.
