The PF units are divided into two sections: PF 1–5 original construction, PF 6–9 new construction. Only one section is operational at a time depending on operational requirements. Overall operation is roughly balanced, so each section runs approximately 4,400 hours annually. The sand filters are regularly backwashed after each operating cycle (80 h) or upon reaching a pressure loss of dP 25 kPa. The system is fully operational.
