Rotary stretch blow molding machine for the production of PET bottles from preforms. Preforms are unloaded from a container into the feed hopper via a tipping device. From there, the preforms are conveyed by an ascending belt operating at electronically controlled speed, passing through a chute and a loading starwheel to the blow molding machine in a uniform orientation. The shape and size of the preforms are inspected, with defective preforms rejected before being transferred via a mechanical starwheel to the heating modules. In the heating modules, the preforms are preheated using infrared lamps. For symmetrical heat distribution, the preforms are continuously rotated. Fans prevent overheating of the outer surface. Finally, preform temperatures are monitored by an optical pyrometer. Grippers handle insertion and removal of the preforms to and from the blow wheel. The blowing unit uses 'crocodile molds', in which axial stretching is assisted by a stretch rod. The preforms are then blown into PET bottles. Stretch-blown bottles are extracted from the cavities by grippers and discharged.
