HOW THE PROCESS WORKS
The process machines metal parts contactlessly and precisely. An electrically conductive electrolyte—saltwater—is introduced between a negatively charged tool electrode (cathode) and a positively charged workpiece (anode). This transports the ionized material anodically out of the machining gap between electrode and workpiece.

The electrode creates the negative impression on the metal. The precisely controlled current pulse, the oscillating tool electrode, and the extremely small working gap form the basis of this technology’s precision. PECM is an advanced version of electrochemical machining.
By utilizing a synchronized current pulse and an oscillating tool electrode, PEMTec enables an extremely small machining gap. This allows for highly precise and economical production, completely free from process-related tool wear.
Workpieces are produced absolutely contact-free and without any thermal or mechanical influences, achieving dimensional accuracy and repeatability in the lower micrometer range as well as surface finishes up to 0.03 µm.
